People usually separate Arts from Sciences or Mathematics. However, as some people have realized, people who are good in Mathematics, usually, have better understanding in Music. Also, people who have good musical skills and theories have better mathematical reasoning also.
Here, I want to try to connect the inter-relation between them.
This is the fun part!
Notes Values
Notes and rests values are always indicated by mathematical values. there are always counting methodes involved in every musical part and in music in general.
Time Signatures
Time signatures devided in two parts. It is located at the very first measure of the piece. The first part, the bottom part, indicates the note that gets one count. For example: 2 means half note gets one count, 4 means quarter note gets one count.
The second part, the top part, indicates how many beats are in a measure.

Simple meter
Not always simple, but each beat in this meter can be devided into two.

Compound meter
The only difference between this type of measure from simple meter is that in this measure, one beat can be devided into three, as shown in the picture.
Scales
Basic scale on the keyboard is C major scale. It is called "C major" because it starts from C, and it is formed by two whole steps, one half step, three whole steps, and one half step (which is called the major form).
To indicate half step in the guitar, we simply can press the next fret right to the first one.
There are other musical scales exist. However, the basic idea is that music is all about mathematics. From the note values, to the scales; from the time signatures, to the key signature (which I have not yet gotten a chance to talk about in this ePortfolio because of the matter of time), it is all about mathematics. People who understand mathematics will be able to understand this theories easier.
Is it not amazing how two unseemingly related subjects, actually are bound to each other!?
This, again, proves the importance of mathematics in our lives. It touches all aspects of our lives.
